164,000 pounds of ground turkey recalled by Jennie-0 Turkey Store

In a shocking news, more than 164,000 pounds of raw ground turkey products have been recalled by Jennie-O Turkey Store Sales over salmonella concerns, the Agriculture Department said.

The Faribault, Minnesota, the products of the company are being recalled which have markings that direct customers to use or freeze the products by Nov. 12 or Nov. 13.

The Agriculture Department’s FSIS (Food Safety and Inspection Service) said it feared that contaminated turkey products may be in customers’ freezers.

The recall includes turkey with taco, plain ground turkey or Italian seasonings that were shipped to Arizona, Florida, California, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Louisiana, Michigan, Indiana, Minnesota, Missouri, New Mexico, Nevada, Ohio, Oklahoma, Texas and Wisconsin.

the FSIS said that the recalled products carry the tag P-579 marked on the lower left corner of the front of the package.

The agency said on Friday that the recall was part of an investigation into a November salmonella outbreak that had involved 216 patients in 38 states.
